January 2010
Three Year Old Class News: Holidays and traditions around the world were the themes for December. The children learned about Christmas, Hanukah and Kwanzaa. They decorated dreidels, candles, trees, Christmas stockings, candy canes, gingerbread boys and girls, and made their own reindeer food. These are just some of the activities the children did to learn about the different holidays. We had a Christmas party and enjoyed some of the different foods that are eaten during the season of Christmas, Hanukah and Kwanzaa. The children enjoyed this special time of year.
Four Year Old Class News: As part of our winter holiday unit, the four year olds also learned about the different holiday traditions that are celebrated this time of year. We had our families tell us about the special traditions they enjoy in their homes at Christmas time. Parents came in to help us with different holiday activities and to play some holiday games. During our Chapel times, we learned about a special baby who was born on Christmas day many years ago. The children received a book from the school as a gift. The four’s were asked to make ornaments for the Belles and Beau’s Christmas party and to sing Christmas Carols. We had a lot of fun and I think the Belles and Beaus had fun as well. We spotted several grandparents upstairs enjoying the children’s voices and enthusiasm. In January SORICO and Child Outreach will be coming to St. Paul’s to conduct developmental, speech, vision, and hearing screenings for the children at our school. This is a free service sponsored by the RI Department of Education and is offered through the NK School Department. We require our families to participate in this screening.
God Bless
